When Leland and I bought our house 5 years ago, the home inspector told us that the existing central A/C unit worked just fine. A few days after we moved in the temperature hit over 90 degrees. No worries, we thought, we’ll just turn on the super convenient central air. It only took us an hour to realize that it wasn’t working. After calling someone to come and look at it, we got a quote for nearly $4000.00 to have it fixed. Apparently it wasn’t just broken, it was shot. There would be no saving it.
So we haven’t replaced it. For the past 5 summers we have sweltered in the heat, taken cold showers and brought ice cubes to bed. Naturally though, we were WAY too hot to even think about touching each other. When it was over 85 degrees sex was something that we never even considered. Now we just can’t afford to not be having sex.
We just installed a window A/C unit in our bedroom. Now we can actually sleep without waking up covered in our sweat. AND it is actually possible to do other things in our bed aside from sleeping. Like shagging. Lots and lots of shagging. Since the rest of the house is hotter than ever, I expect that we will want to spend a lot of time in our bedroom. And you all know what that means.

I have 2 window units in my home - living room and bedroom. My hubby was a smart man and installed the bedroom one after one night of me sleeping in the living room because of the heat. [note: hubby could care less about AC]
Shagging. Classic. I have a board game called Dump, Shag, or Marry.
Maybe you can play that in your cool bedroom also?

That sucks! About your air condition! Can you go after a home inspector for f-ing up that bad? A non-working air conditon is not exaclty what he promised you! What's the point of paying for an inspection if they don't actually I don't know INSPECT!?
I have no idea how you survived that long without any ac! Painful! I'm glad you guys at least have the windown unit in the bedroom now! Here's to a much more enjoyable and cooler summer!!

You should have gone after the home inspector... they have to warranty their work... We just bought a house in January, and found the deck a little wobbly. Over the weekend we were under the deck, and the main support beam isn't even attached to the deck! There is a 1/2" gap between the beam and the deck posts. Except for the one the has a bunch of little wood shims shoved in the gap... because I am sure that is enough to stabilize the deck.
I can't believe the home inspector lied! That's awful! The owners totally should have paid for that!

That's awful that you were told it worked and didn't; I guess you live and learn! I would be SO torn if that had happened to me because while it's a lot of money, I HATE being sweaty and hot, esp. in my own home. I bet you're really enjoying that unit in your bedroom. ;)

Sucks about the a/c, but at least you've figured out a temporary fix!
We don't have A/C. It's only warm enough for that maybe three days of the year. Thank god we have a basement though because when it is warm, that's where we go.

I just got AC in my room, too! It is AMAZING! Nothing is worse than waking up dripping with sweat and stinking. Now let's see that ticker get higher!
