Weekend Babble

This past weekend was the first weekend in MONTHS that Leland and I had nothing to do. Usually the weekends mean doing yardwork, seeing family and friends, parties, running a million errands, band practice, going out to see Leland's band play...and a whole bunch of other things. This weekend we had no plans.

Well, we had some plans, but nothing that required us to leave our house.

For the most part, we just sat around all weekend. Saturday morning we took a bike ride, but I was only able to last for about a half hour because I am still rebuilding muscle in my right leg. We were home by 10:30 and after that we sat around, had some sex and then watched a ton of episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. We were uber lazy.

Sunday was the same way. Other than taking a walk to my parents house, which was 1.35 miles, we didn't do anything else except watch some It's Always Sunny episodes and watch True Blood. We spent most of the weekend just hanging out with each other.

Though we were really looking forward to the weekend so we could relax and just spend time with each other, it felt a little weird. We usually don't spend so much time inside, but the rain didn't really allow us to do anything else. We don't usually have so much one on one time, and though it was great, it still felt weird not to see other people on the weekend. And though I feel so well rested and didn't screw up my sleeping pattern, I still feel a little underwhelmed by the weekend.

Summer is short and Leland and I want to take advantage of every minute possible. I think I just need to remember that if I am going to enjoy the summer, I still need to be well rested and have time to relax. It was just weird relaxing that much. It's been awhile since either one of us have been able to do that. I guess it'll just take some getting used to.

Speaking of True Blood, did anyone see the season premiere last night? There were quite a few funny parts. I cannot wait to see what unfolds this season. The vampires of True Blood are infinitely cooler than other vampires that are on TV or in movies right now. If you are on a vampire kick, you should check it out.

I missed True Blood. Hear you on relaxing, it just isn't 2nd nature to me anymore, the way it used to be. xoxo

You know, a lot of people would "kill" for a weekend of bike riding, and "after that we sat around, had some sex and then watched" TV....

:) Keep resting and rebuilding the leg... its good to see you getting better.

I haven't seen either of those shows... What a great weekend you had! I would love a weekend with nothing planned! Don't think I'll get one for several weeks...

Okay, I have to say, that sounds like my favorite kind of weekend. Just relax and hang... I love that. :)

And I didn't get to see TB because we don't have HBO anymore. I only hope I'll be able to watch it on itunes - or I'll be really sad. I need my Eric.

That really sounds like a great weekend to me! We have been so busy so far this summer that we barely have enough time for ourselves. Luckily. this weekend we will be without kids. They are leaving Wednesday morning to spend some time with the in-laws for the rest of the week. So freaking excited!

But it sounds like you had a great time, though!

relaxing and sex...sounds great to me. Since your injury it is probably a good idea to take it easy once in a while.

Loved the dream sequence of Sam and Bill.. what lovely chest those boys have...yum

What is this 'relaxing' that you speak of???

Wow, good for you! I've been running around and being so active that I could use a weekend like you had!!

Here are some ideas that I've done recently that may help you and Leland get out of the house and have some summertime fun (on the cheap):

--visit a u-pick farm in your area and pick fresh berries
(strawberries, blueberries, etc.)

--visit local museums like art and history ones. Many of them have free days or reduced admission.

--Pick up your local paper's entertainment pages. I always find new things in those like ads for free concerts, cheap student plays, and more!

Best of luck for having a great summer filled with fun, friends and memories!

Sometimes it's SO nice to have a lazy weekend where you have nothing pressing to do. When you normally keep yourself busy, it can be a real adjustment, though! Right now, since I'm not working, all I want to do on the weekends is get out and about and do a bunch of things! :) This weekend, though, was like yours!

Sometimes it is the best when you are forced to stay inside and just decompress. Sometimes it is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Never watched True Blood, but hear fantastic.

Rest, relaxation and sex. Is there any better weekend? LOL

We haven't watched TruBlood yet and we're on a media block out until we get a chance to see it. Glad this wasn't a spoiler!

Your damaged self was more active than I was. I haven't been on a bike in YEARS. And I can walk about 1/4 of a mile. Way to make a girl feel guilty. ;p

Sounds like a nice weekend.

I'm having trouble comprehending that June is almost halfway over. It was just April, no?

every once in a while it feels great to do nothing but relax!

I hope your time of relaxation is actually relaxing. So often, if I'm left with a void of time where I should be napping or resting, I take the opportunity to separate the recyclables or clean my toilet.

I think that may be a separate problem...

I'm all for just hanging out doing nothing on the weekend, at least once in awhile. I've never seen True Blood, but It's Always Sunny cracks me the hell up!

True Blood is one of my favorite shows. Sadly, I have cancelled HBO and will have to wait for the dvd's. *sob*

I relaxed this weekend, too. It was strange. I guess it's good to find a balance but I'm not able to do that in any area of my life.

My husband always wonders why we rarely take time to sit and relax -- we spend a lot of time trying to be productive - which is way overrated. You've got the right idea. Enjoy life.

It is so hard to train yourself to relax...it's something I have a hard time with! I need to start watching true blood...I hear so many good things about this.
