Tales from my Twenties--Continuing with my 80's Rock Concert Shenanigans.

In July 2009, Leland and I went with our good friends Danny and Kathryn to see Ratt at the House of Blues in Chicago.

We love Ratt, and were both way pumped to be able to see them perform Body Talk live. Body Talk is one of our favorite songs.

When we made it to Chicago, we had about 30 minutes until Danny and Kathryn were supposed to meet us, so we went to the bar next door to the House of Blues and ordered a drink. About half way through that first drink, I decided it was an excellent idea for us to do a shot. Leland was a little apprehensive because he knows how I get once I start doing shots, but I assured him it would just be one. He should know me better than that.

We did our shot and then went outside to meet Danny and Kathryn.

As soon as I saw Kathryn I remembered a very important fact about her: she loves doing tequila shots as much as I do.

Just one more shot, I told Leland. We are at Ratt and I have to do a tequila shot with Kathryn. Don’t worry, I said, it’ll just be the one shot.

We took our one shot and followed it with a beer.

We were having a good time, so naturally I thought we should do another shot. Nothing says “let’s party” like a shot of tequila. I ignored Leland’s protests and ordered two more shots for me and Kathryn. He shouldn’t even have tried to protest because there was no way he was going to win that argument.

I was probably getting a little wild and crazy. Probably. The thing is, I don’t really remember much. Apparently 80’s music concerts make me get all kinds of drunk and forget important things.

I remember taking several more shots. I remember there was a point when I could barely walk. I remember thinking that all of those shots of tequila were not a good idea. I remember thinking that I should never have opened a tab with our debit card.

And that is all I remembered until I woke up on the ground in a parking garage, next to a very large pile of vomit.

I can only imagine what I must have looked like to random people walking to their parked cars.

I remember waking up, not having any idea how I got where I was. I remember being so happy that I was right next to my car and that I didn’t lock myself out when I got out of the car to puke. And then I remembered dumping the contents of my purse all over the ground to find my cell phone so I could locate Leland. And I think it was at that moment that I saw Leland, Danny and Kathryn walking toward me like a mirage in the distance.

I was still very drunk and my vision was very blurry.

Apparently Leland took me to our car because I wanted him to be able to see the concert. I guess it didn’t occur to either of us that I might decide to leave the car once I got there. Lucky for me I was way too drunk to stay upright.

Though I puked a lot, I spent two days being hung over.

Oh, and I didn’t learn my lesson. I still love doing tequila shots, though now I will only do them at home. And I am so glad there were no camera’s around this time to document my drunkenness.

P.S. I can so feel my mother beaming with pride as she reads these stories.

We are WAY too much alike. 80's music, puking in random places, passing out in parking lots..... SISTER!

Yeah, I've had a night like that with my old friend, Patron. I brought a bottle into my ex's bar and ended up doing shots with anyone who would accept. I only remember about 30 minutes of doing shots... and then I remember waking up in the mop closet. Apparently that's where they had to put me because I was so out of it. GOOD TIMES!

Your mother reads your blog?!

I learned my tequilla lesson in 1986 and haven't touched the stuff since. Nothing like losing ten pounds in three days from a tequilla bender! Waitaminute...this could be the weight loss solution I've been dreaming of!

I loved Ratt back in the day. I loved the videos with Uncle Milty. Back when MTV played videos.

These stories are SO much fun to read! I've had a pretty few wild nights myself - thankfully way up here in the bush, the likelihood of being on GGW is pretty remote. ;o) Doesn't mean I haven't had plenty of practice auditions though. LOL!

I bet your mom is plenty proud that (so far) you have lived to tell the tales. :oP

Also - tequila is my best friend and my worst enemy all at the same time!

I had to stop drinking tequila back in the early 90's due to some similar experiences. So glad people didn't have camera phones when I was in college.

I had forgotten all about Ratt!! Round and Round was the song I liked.

In my early days of drinking I remember doing shots with a bottle of tequila that had a worm in it. I was talked into eating half the worm with a man that I was head over heels in love with. We were convinced that the worm would take us to another dimension or some nonsense. Soon after came the puking and the vile hangover. Me and tequila don't really get along much anymore.

I had a tequila experience, except to this day, I can't even stand to look at the word (I think I vomited in my mouth a little...)
I think that sort of makes you a rockstar that you can still give 'er!

I LOVE tequilla and have been careful to never have that puking experience with it so I can continue my love affair with Jose' and his friends!

Wow. I think I only puked in the 80s when I had the flu... In the 90s when I was pregnant... and in the 2000s back to flu.
I can't imagine waking up to a pile of my own vomit... Oh you poor girl! AND you missed the concert!

Hmm... I am wondering if you got the worse of the wild thang out of your blood yet...

..not sure that I am hoping it is.. or it hasn't...

This is EXACTLY why I don't do shots.

The last time I did shots, I threw up in the sink of a Steak 'n Shake, fell asleep on a toilet and threw up again on the front steps to my house.

Oooh tequila... it will get you every time! Kind of sounds like me and... well... any alcohol. Once you start you just can't stop!

Holy crap, girl! That's scary.

Tequila. People love it or hate it. I enjoy it. My husband can't drink it or he pees on stuff. Don't let him know I told you that. I try to limit my shot taking...it always leads to me forgetting how the night ends.

YES! I chose the exact right time to randomly visit you blog! I remember when we walked to the parking garage the attendant was like, "she's been laying there for a while." he didn't call for help or try to talk to you or ANYTHING! what a dick.
