Is 7 weeks too early to start counting down to a vacation?
Even if it is, my countdown has already started.
In 7 weeks Leland and I will be leaving town for my birthday, driving to Savannah, GA for a week of goofing off and misbehaving. Why Savannah, GA you might ask? Well, Leland and I love roadtrips. We were planning on taking one last year that we had to cancel because of my awesome abilities to cause extreme injury to myself. It has been nearly three years since our last vacation and we both wanted to do something this summer. And since I am the most indecisive person in the world, I sighed up for Groupons in several places around the country. I decided to let Groupon make the decision for me.
One day a few months ago the Groupon for that chosen day was 50% off a king suite at a hotel in Savannah, GA. The decision had been made. Though we were dreaming about a trip, staying in a hotel for 6 nights can be so expensive and we weren't sure if we could afford $1000 just for a hotel room. But with the amazing Groupon deal we were able to start planning our trip.
(No, this isn't a commercial for Groupon, I just really love them right now).
We were also able to book a walking tour for 50% off on Groupon, as well as 50% off a carriage ride ghost tour (Savannah is apparently a very haunted city), and I got a $60 gift certificate for a sushi restaurant for only $20. Oh, and I bought a Groupon for a dolphin watching boat ride that was 50% off.
So as I am at work and should be getting work done, I cannot stop day dreaming about getting the hell out of town. I am excited to go here:
The Juliette Gordon Low house. Juliette Gordon Low is the founder of the Girl Scouts of America, and you all know how much I heart the Girl Scouts! I am so excited to take a picture in front of it!
We will also be stopping here:
This is one of Savannah's 24 squares, and the square made famous by the opening park bench scene in Forrest Gump. Leland and I have plans to rent bikes and see all 24 squares while we are there.
But I think I am most excited about going here:
I hope to spend my birthday doing nothing but hanging out at the beach. That would make my birthday a very happy day. But for now, I am sitting in my office, looking at pictures with my head in the clouds. I know the 7 weeks will fly by, and though I really want to take my vacation, I don't want to wish away my last few weeks of still being in my 20's!

Sounds wonderful.
What? No stopping at Paula Deen's restaurant?
I'd be counting down by now too so go for it....nothing better than a roadtrip! :-)
30 really isn't so bad! ;)
Have a blast on your trip! Can't wait to hear all about it in 9 weeks!!
Savanna is one of my favorite cities on earth. If, in your road trip, you are coming though Altanta, let me know and I will buy y'all dinner or a cup of coffee or something.
Savannah is really a fun city. They have a great river walk and the architecture is great.
Btw, 10 weeks is not too early to start your countdown.
I'm so jealous!!! My vacations usually center around family and a move or wedding or funeral...
I've never been to Savannah but I've always wanted to. I'd have to stop at Paula's place though.
I can't express my envy.
I've never been to Savannah and I would so love to see it, especially before if gets sweltering and disgusting.
This Groupon business sounds interesting. How do I find it?
Or, does it find me...?
P.S. I'm not going to tell you that being 30 is awesome, because I have no clue. I'm not 30.
However, I can say that my 20s have been, so far, rather tumultuous.
I think if anyone can make turning 30 twelve different shades of magical starfish sexy, it would be you.
you will have a blast!!! We've been to Savannah. Great place to walk around and nice foody spots. And the beach is awesome. 7 weeks will speed by in a Jiffy. Ghost tours are so much fun. We did one in Charleston.
That's sounds like you have an awesome trip planned!
We're leaving in just a few days and excited isn't even the word for it. More like anxiety-ridden! LOL! I'm a head case.
I love, love, love Savannah. In fact, I think it's about time we starting planning a trip to the city. My husband and I have each been there but not together.
Savannah is GORGEOUS... you'll love it!! At one time, I'd thought about going to the Savannah College of Art & Design.. kinda pissed I didn't. Haha
That is AWESOME how you found all those deals on Groupon. So smart. I'd never thought to sign up from them from other cities too. The Savannah ghost tours are soooo creepy!
(and it's never too early to start counting down for a trip!)
I've always wanted to visit Savannah. I've been to Charleston twice and LOVED it! I did the ghost tour last time I visited Charleston. It was SO much fun. You're right...cities that rich in history are great for ghost tours.
Wooooooohoooooooooooo!!! Roadtrip!!!!! Its NEVER to early to countdown a roadtrip!
:)
Hope you have a blast in Jawyah!
It is never too early to start counting down for a vacation!!!
How exciting! Isn't Groupon awesome!! I've started watching some of the Groupons in the areas that we're vacationing too for great deals too!
Georgia sounds so fun! Dolphin watching would be amazing! A whole week of vacation! It'll be so nice and relaxing! What a fabulous way to ring in 30!! I'm so jealous!
I'm SO jealous...that looks gorgeous. I've always wanted to go there or Charleston.
I booked a vacay for my entire family one time...and no shit, my mom called me every morning telling me the days left. And it started like in the 100's. LOL
Left a little something in my blog for you, hope you don't mind!
Oh that beach! Try to hold on you'll be there soon! (-: You are going to have the best time ever!!!
Oh and I was trying to think of something clever to say about being 30 but then my forties got all up in arms and got jealous. I think my fifties will be able to take them all...WHEN that time comes.
A long time from now.
Shhh...don't tell, but the 30's were my favorite so far (-:
This sounds really, really fun, but those ghostly parts? I'm not so sure about that....
It's never to early to start the count down!
Woo Hoo! Yay for Groupon! Yay for vacations! Yay for something to which to look forward! And since I am behind in my visiting, it seems that you are a week and a half closer - so double yay!
:-)
